The Long House Surgery is a friendly, forward-thinking GP practice. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Medical Receptionist to join our patient services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. As the first point of contact for many of our patients, you will play an important role in ensuring they receive a professional, caring and efficient service.
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will:
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be confident dealing with patients sensitively and professionally, both in person and over the telephone.
- Possess strong organisational and administrative skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Be comfortable using IT systems and learning new software
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team while also managing their own workload.
- Demonstrate a positive, flexible and patient-centred approach.
Previous experience in a GP Practice, Health care setting is desirable but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
The role will involve a variety of reception and administrative duties, including:
- Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice.
- Managing incoming telephone calls and directing patients to the most appropriate clinician or service.
- Booking, amending and cancelling appointments.
- Processing repeat prescription requests.
- Maintaining accurate patient records using the Vision & Docman clinical system.
- Handling incoming correspondence and scanning documentation to patient records.
- Supporting the wider administrative team with general office duties.
