Learning Support Assistant (LSA)-Culinary Skills



  • Job Type: Part-time (Agency)- (3 days Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9 to 5. 8 hours per day less 1 hour lunch)

  • Salary: £15.55 – £17.75 per hour

We are currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team, providing essential 1:1 support to a student enrolled in a Level 1 introductory culinary course. This role is crucial for helping young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to access and achieve within their educational programmes.


Day-to-day of the role:



  • Provide person-centred support to learners with a range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties and disabilities.

  • Assist learners with personal care or mobility as needed, always ensuring to approach each task with sensitivity, respect, and dignity.

  • Work closely with individuals or small groups, adapting your style to meet diverse needs and encouraging learners to develop independence.

  • Support the development of learning and study skills in alignment with outcomes identified in their Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).


Required Skills & Qualifications:



  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Proven ability to build positive, trust-based relationships with learners, staff, parents/carers, and professionals.

  • Experience working in a multicultural community and a clear understanding of safeguarding, discrimination, and the barriers faced by learners with additional needs.

  • Confidence in supporting learners with personal care and mobility needs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in various situations.

  • Good organisational skills, reliable IT abilities, and sound administrative practice.

  • Experience of working with SEN learners in a secondary or FE setting is desirable, but we welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills.
