The Contact Supervisor plays a vital safeguarding role within a supervised child contact service, ensuring that contact between children and non-resident parents or family members takes place in a safe, neutral, and child-focused environment. The role involves supervising contact sessions, observing interactions, recording detailed factual reports, and intervening when necessary to safeguard the welfare of the child in line with court orders, safeguarding policies, and service procedures.
Duties
- Supervise contact between children and visiting parents or relatives in accordance with court orders, risk assessments, and service agreements.
- Observe interactions discreetly and intervene appropriately if safeguarding concerns arise.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Report and elevate concerns to management and relevant external agencies (e.g. social services) where required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
- Produce clear, accurate, factual, and unbiased written reports on contact sessions.
- Communicate professionally with children, parents, carers, social workers, solicitors, and court representatives where appropriate.
- Provide verbal feedback to service users where required, maintaining neutrality and professionalism.
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour during contact sessions.
