Job Summary
At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.
Here, you’ll put your skills into work you can be proud of, taking on big challenges alongside experienced people and seeing the impact of what you make travel around the world. It’s work that tests your skills, builds your experience and gives you a real sense of achievement.
This is a full-time, permanent position on the following shift pattern (which includes 25% shift premium):
Week 1:
Saturday, Sunday, Thursday, Friday
Week 2:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
There is opportunity to work night shifts once fully trained which incurs an additional 33% shift premium.
How You’ll Contribute
You’ll use a range of hand and machine tools to carry out work, including:
• Precussion riveting• Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels with Vanmar tools• Setting structures in build jigs• Deburring of structures• Fettling using approved setting tools• Treatment touch-up in localised areas on aluminium• Use of CNC pillar drills (DONAU)• Part Marking + Identifying

A recognised Level 3 apprenticeship and NVQ (Or equivalent) in

Previous manufacturing experience in an aircraft production environmentKnowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiativesWorked With Us Before?
Coming back is easier than you might think. If you previously worked at GKN Aerospace as a Fitter, there’s no interview, just a check of your qualification stamps. You could even be back with the team as soon as next week.

Starting salary of £36,717 rising to £38,220 once fully certified (after around 3 months) plus shift allowance (up to 33%)
totalling £47,775 for day shift or £50,832.60 for night shift
