Site Technical Manager

Malton, North Yorkshire

£75,000 + car allowance + Bupa + 10% discretionary bonus

Permanent | Monday to Friday | Site based

Are you an experienced technical leader ready to take ownership of site strategy, develop a strong technical team and build trusted relationships with major retailers?

Castle Employment are recruiting a Site Technical Manager for an established food manufacturer in the Malton area.

This is a senior, influential role where you will be the most senior technical leader on site, reporting directly to the Site Director and forming part of the senior leadership team.

You will lead three managers across Factory Technical, Technical Services and Compliance, taking overall responsibility for food safety, quality, technical standards and retailer relationships.

What makes this role stand out?

This is an opportunity to have genuine influence over the technical direction of a busy food manufacturing site. You will have the scope to shape strategy, strengthen food safety culture and develop your management team, while working closely with Operations, Engineering, Hygiene and NPD to continually improve standards and performance.

The package includes:

  • £75,000 basic salary
  • Car allowance
  • Bupa health insurance
  • 10% discretionary bonus
  • Monday to Friday working pattern
  • Flexibility around working hours

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the site technical strategy and drive a strong food safety and quality culture
  • Take accountability for food safety, legality, quality, HACCP and the Quality Management System
  • Maintain BRCGS certification and compliance with relevant retailer codes of practice
  • Lead relationships with major retailers, including technical meetings, audits and customer visits
  • Oversee technical investigations and ensure effective corrective and preventative actions
  • Coach and develop three technical managers, strengthening capability and succession across the function
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, Hygiene and NPD to improve standards and site performance
  • Provide technical leadership and constructive challenge as part of the senior leadership team

What are we looking for?

You will bring proven technical leadership experience from within food manufacturing, alongside the confidence to operate at senior leadership level and influence across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will need:

  • Level 4 HACCP qualification
  • Level 4 Food Safety qualification
  • Strong practical knowledge of Listeria controls
  • Strong practical knowledge of allergen management and controls
  • Experience working with major UK retailers and their technical requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of BRCGS and food manufacturing compliance
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop technical managers
  • Confidence managing retailer relationships, audits and complex technical issues

Experience working with M&S standards and requirements would be particularly valuable, although experience with other major UK retailers will also be considered.

Your leadership style will be just as important as your technical knowledge. You will be resilient, approachable and collaborative, with the ability to set clear expectations, build trust and bring teams together around food safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Location and working pattern

This is a permanent, site-based position in Malton, North Yorkshire, working Monday to Friday.

There will also be occasional travel to retailer offices and other group locations.

If you are looking for a senior technical leadership opportunity where you can shape strategy, develop people and make a visible impact across a food manufacturing operation, we would like to hear from you.
