PLEASE NOTE: This role is based in Sheffield, S2, UK. Authorisation to work in the UK is essential.
Post Title: Nature Based Solutions Operations Director
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, predominantly 8.00am to 4.00pm Mondays -Fridays at our site on Manor Lane, but there will be occasional travel to clients and partners including Europe.

At The Green Estate CIC we have one of the most impactful and innovative Nature Based Solutions (NBS) team in social enterprise. Using the turf and seed mixes of the Pictorial Meadows brand, developed in partnership with the late Nigel Dunnett, and our own specialist Grey to Green soils and substrate, our projects have ranged from installing high impact meadow fields that increase biodiversity and pollinator habitats, supporting the creation of Sustainable Urban Drainage and regenerating urban landscapes.
With aspirations to grow our impact, reach and sales we are expanding the Senior Leadership within NBS and are now recruiting an NBS Operations Director to work alongside our NBS Growth Director.
We’re looking for someone who can
- Lead complex, multi-disciplinary operational teams and activities
- Develop efficient, resilient systems, processes and production capacity
- Balance operational excellence with customer relationships and business development
- Develop people, accountability and a high-performance culture
- Understand the realities of delivering landscape, horticultural, environmental or nature-based services at scale
- Spot opportunities to improve, innovate and grow
You may come from a background in commercial landscaping, horticulture, environmental services, manufacturing, operations, parks, construction, natural capital or another related sector. What matters most is your ability to lead people, operations and commercial performance in a complex, purpose-led environment.
