La Fosse is supporting a Central Government organisationa major technology transformation programme and we are looking for an experienced Data Migration Lead to take ownership of a complex data migration workstream.
This is an opportunity to work on a significant programme, modernising legacy technology and moving critical services and data onto a modern cloud-based platform.
The role
You will lead the end-to-end migration of data from legacy systems into a new cloud environment, working closely with engineering, architecture, testing, product and delivery teams.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can define the migration approach while also getting into the detail of data structures, mapping, quality and migration execution.
Key responsibilities will include:
Owning the end-to-end data migration strategy and delivery plan
Leading migration from legacy/on-premise systems into modern cloud platforms
Data discovery, profiling, mapping and transformation
Working extensively with SQL and relational databases
Defining migration rules, reconciliation processes and acceptance criteria
Managing data quality, cleansing and remediation activities
Designing and overseeing ETL/ELT processes and migration pipelines
Planning migration rehearsals, cutover and rollback approaches
Ensuring data integrity and completeness throughout the migration
Working closely with Data Architects, Software Engineers, Test teams and Delivery Managers
Identifying migration risks, dependencies and technical constraints
Supporting governance and documentation within a highly secure environment
Experience we’re looking for
We are particularly interested in people with experience of:
Leading complex, enterprise-scale data migration programmes
Migrating data from legacy platforms into cloud environments
Strong SQL capability and understanding of relational data models
Data mapping, transformation, validation and reconciliation
ETL/ELT technologies and modern data pipelines
AWS or comparable cloud environments
Working across engineering, architecture and testing teams
Delivering within Agile / multidisciplinary technology programmes
Highly regulated, government, policing, defence or other secure environments
Experience of large-scale case management, operational or highly sensitive data environments would be particularly relevant.
Clearance
Current SC or DV clearance is essential.
Due to the nature and timescales of the programme, we are specifically looking for people who already hold active UK security clearance.
