Hi there! We’re a small team of skilled tech-enthusiasts working on a handful of large software projects primarily in the finance, property and telco industries.
We work remotely in our Roam virtual office, with a daily 9am standup and the usual fortnightly agile sprints. We offer our clients the highest standards in software design, development and support—so we all possess a keen attention to detail and a desire to provide a great service, within the boundaries of what’s realistic.
With many businesses keen to take full advantage of AI, a lot of our focus is on implementing agentic systems to ensure our clients stay well ahead in the AI race. We’re looking for new team members as excited about building the future as we are.
The role
In short: Angular focused with Java capability
We’re looking for somebody to join us in building and improving our clients’ modern web applications, while also contributing to APIs, application logic, data and production support. Our current work includes Angular, TypeScript, Java and Spring, but we hire for transferable engineering ability rather than exact framework history.
AI-assisted tools are part of modern development, but they do not replace expertise. You must be able to test assumptions, review generated work critically and take responsibility for every change you deliver.
What you’ll do
- Build accessible, responsive and intuitive web interfaces using Angular, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
- Design maintainable components, application state, forms, validation and API integrations.
- Develop and maintain back-end services, REST APIs, application logic and data integrations.
- Write meaningful automated tests and review code for correctness, security, performance and maintainability.
- Take ownership of features from clarification and estimation through release and improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders: understand the underlying need, challenge requests constructively and explain options and trade-offs.
- Use AI tools appropriately, verify their output and protect client data, credentials and proprietary code.
- Contribute to code reviews, team learning and continuous improvement of delivery practices.
What we’re looking for
- Commercial experience delivering production web applications.
- Good knowledge of Angular best practices, and the ability to work with Java on the back-end.
- Demonstrable depth in at least one side of the stack, plus enough experience on the other side to understand, change and debug an end-to-end feature.
- Experience building or maintaining back-end services in Java, C#, Node.js, Python or a comparable server-side technology.
- Practical knowledge of REST APIs, databases, data modelling, validation, error handling and common web security risks.
- Confidence with Git, code review, automated testing and debugging—including production incidents.
- The judgement to evaluate code critically, whether written by you, a colleague or an AI tool.
- Clear communication, ownership, attention to detail and the ability to work independently while seeking input when needed.
- Real examples of collaborating with clients or stakeholders and handling disagreement constructively.
You do not need commercial experience in every technology we use. We will consider a front-end specialist with limited back-end exposure—or the reverse—where there is credible evidence of transferable fundamentals, practical cross-stack capability and the ability to grow. This is not suitable for someone who can work only at one layer and cannot investigate an end-to-end issue.
Useful, but not essential
- Google Cloud Platform, CI/CD or containerisation.
- Consultancy or client-facing delivery experience.
Life at Sprint
We offer a flexible, trusting environment where motivated people can do their best work, keep learning and see the impact they create for clients. We value practical solutions, high standards and open collaboration—not technology for its own sake.
Additional benefits include:
- Bupa health insurance option or cash alternative (after probation period).
- 22 days holiday + bank holidays (31 days total).
- Fast and fair progression for high performance.
We aim to complete the process within four weeks. Every candidate follows the same stages and is assessed against the same evidence-based criteria.
Application and verification
We review your CV, short introduction and public professional profile on LinkedIn.
Introductory screen — 5 to 10 minutes
A structured conversation about your recent work, motivation, availability and fit with the essential criteria.
Structured interview — 60 minutes
We ask every candidate questions covering delivery, cross-stack depth, production debugging, client judgement, quality and responsible AI use.
Practical review and presentation
You review a small, representative web codebase and present your findings.
Decision and feedback
The interviewers score the evidence independently before comparing notes. We then make a prompt decision and confirm the outcome.
