Apply for the Financial Controller
Location: London
Job Description:

London (Liverpool Street) Hybrid (2 days office / 3 days remote) £65,000 – £80,000 + Benefits

Our professional services client is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to join its leadership team overseeing a broad remit that offers significantly more exposure than a typical Financial Controller position.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a key role in financial leadership, business planning, and strategic decision-making. This opportunity would suit a qualified accountant looking to step beyond technical finance responsibilities and gain exposure to board-level activity and business operations.

The Opportunity

You will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, manage a team of two, and you will ensure robust financial control across our client’s multiple business units and two legal entities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Producing statutory accounts and managing the annual audit
  • Managing cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
  • Delivering high-quality management information and board reporting
  • Maintaining strong financial controls and audit readiness
  • Overseeing corporation tax, VAT and wider compliance matters
  • Building and developing forecasting, budgeting and scenario models
  • Supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis
  • Managing and developing two Finance Assistants
  • Driving process improvement, automation and finance systems enhancement
  • Working with senior stakeholders across the business on operational and commercial initiatives
  • Supporting shareholder and executive-level reporting requirements

About You

We are interested in speaking with qualified accountants who combine strong technical foundations with commercial curiosity and a proactive mindset, ideally possessing the following:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
  • At least 4 years’ post-qualified experience
  • Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager or equivalent
  • Strong financial reporting, control and audit experience
  • Excellent Excel and financial modelling capabilities
  • Experience producing management accounts and board reporting
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A process improvement and automation mindset
  • The ability to operate effectively within a lean, fast-moving environment

Experience of finance systems implementation, FP&A, cash flow modelling or professional services environments would be advantageous.

Why Apply?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and established organisation where finance plays a central role in business decision-making.

You’ll gain:

  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and board-level discussions
  • Broad ownership across finance, planning and operational improvement
  • Significant autonomy and influence
  • Hybrid working with a central London office location
