Detailed Job Description:
As a Java Full Stack Developer at Blue Dot Rec in Glasgow, UK, you will take full ownership of end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) activities, enterprise application architecture, RESTful API development, database optimization, and containerized deployments. Your day-to-day responsibilities encompass building scalable microservices with Java and Spring Boot, developing responsive user interfaces with React or Angular, writing complex SQL queries, and managing container orchestration platforms on Kubernetes, ECS, and AKS. You will collaborate proactively with cross-functional engineering squads, QA teams, and business analysts to troubleshoot production defects, perform rigorous code reviews, and ensure high system resilience. Working in a fast-paced investment banking technology environment in Glasgow, you will drive engineering excellence, cloud adoption, and software reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable enterprise Java and Spring Boot backend applications and microservices.
- Build modern, responsive, and high-performance frontend web applications utilizing React or Angular frameworks.
- Develop and consume robust RESTful APIs, integration endpoints, and secure database data access layers.
- Write optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and relational database schemas for high-throughput transactional systems.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot containerized application deployments utilizing Docker, Kubernetes (K8s), ECS, and AKS.
- Work across the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC) from architectural design to production release and support.
- Collaborate proactively with enterprise architects, software engineers, QA teams, and business stakeholders in Glasgow.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and automated test-driven development (TDD).
- Troubleshoot complex production incidents, perform root-cause analysis (RCA), and execute rapid performance optimizations.
- Ensure strict adherence to enterprise security baselines, coding standards, and BFSI regulatory compliance frameworks.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 8+ years of professional software engineering and enterprise application development experience.
- Expert technical proficiency and operational mastery of Java and Spring Boot development frameworks.
- Strong hands-on experience building modern web frontends using React or Angular.
- Solid SQL and relational database design and optimization skills.
- Proven operational mastery of containerization and orchestration platforms including Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, ECS, and AKS.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing environments, microservices design patterns, and enterprise architecture.
