Overview

In this role you will deliver accurate cost estimates and commercial viability for shopfitting and fit-out projects within retail and commercial sectors. You will work closely with design, project management and procurement teams to shape cost plans and support project delivery. You’ll manage budgets, evaluate bids, and identify cost-saving opportunities to maximise profitability. This hybrid position offers diverse projects and a clear impact on project outcomes. You will contribute to high-profile retail solutions while developing professionally in a respected specialist firm.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates for shopfitting and fit-out projects aligned with client requirements.
  • Collaborate with design, project management and procurement to develop cost plans and feasibility assessments.
  • Measure and quantify bill of quantities for new builds, refurbishments and extensions in food/supermarket sectors.
  • Analyze tender documents and bids to produce competitive quotes.
  • Monitor budgets and costs, identifying risks and maximising profitability.
  • Assist with contract administration, valuations and payment applications.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure clear communication.
  • Support cost benchmarking and implement cost-saving initiatives.

Key requirements

  • Proven experience as Estimator or Quantity Surveyor in shopfitting, retail fit-outs, or commercial construction.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, tendering processes and contract management.
  • Excellent numerical literacy and proficiency with measurement/estimating software.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive problem-solving and excellent communication skills.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline is desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred for site visits.
