Group Procurement Manager
Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum
Vacancy Type: Full time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30-17:30 (One hour lunch unpaid)
Duties
Procurement & Sourcing
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives
- Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, ingredients, and packaging
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service level agreements to achieve best value
Supplier Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance against KPIs (quality, cost, delivery)
- Conduct regular supplier reviews and audits
Cost Management
- Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety
- Monitor commodity markets and manage price fluctuations
- Prepare and manage procurement budgets and forecasts
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all suppliers meet relevant food safety and quality standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC, ISO)
- Maintain full traceability of materials in line with regulatory requirements
- Support internal and external audits
Supply Chain Coordination
- Work closely with production, planning, and logistics teams to ensure material availability
- Manage inventory levels, minimising waste and avoiding stockouts
- Oversee supplier lead times and delivery schedules
Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (e.g., supplier dependency, disruptions)
- Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in procurement within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Professional procurement qualification (e.g., CIPS) desirable
