Cost Engineer – Defence (Construction)

Overview

In this role you will support performance reporting and cost control for defence-focused projects within a dynamic project controls team. You’ll implement and maintain cost systems, analyze spend, and provide forecasts to enable informed decision-making. You will work across disciplines to ensure accurate cost reporting and help manage budgets for medium-complexity projects. Responsibilities

• Implement, administer and maintain cost control systems to track budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts
• Assist in preparation and review of cost estimates
• Provide cost information to support decision making and option evaluations
• Evaluate contractor invoices prior to pre-approval
• Utilize Cost Capture System data to populate cost reports and validate spending
• Evaluate and analyse fee proposals/bids and provide recommendations
• Provide forecasts and cash flow analyses
• Maintain and manage cost reports with regular financial position updates

Key requirements

• Computer literacy in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of SAP and Sage or similar discipline software
• Demonstrable Project Cost Control techniques
• Ability to coordinate with other teams and possess multidisciplinary awareness
• Strong research and analytical skills with excellent oral and written communication
• Professional working knowledge of Project Controls software/tools
• Eligible to hold security clearance (SC) with British nationality and UK passport
