Senior Structural Engineer

Overview

As a Structural Engineer in a structural steel fabrication environment, you will design and check steel structures from concept through erection, ensuring buildability and compliance. You collaborate with fabrication, detailing, and project teams to deliver practical solutions, translating designs into shop-ready products. You will work on a variety of projects across sectors, contributing to continuous improvement and project success. Responsibilities

• Produce structural steel designs, calculations, and detailed engineering solutions
• Collaborate with fabrication and design teams to ensure practicality and buildability
• Interpret drawings to develop structural concepts and connection designs
• Perform design checks and ensure compliance with UK standards and Eurocodes
• Liaise with project managers, detailers, and workshop teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Support technical queries during fabrication and erection
• Contribute to design efficiency and fabrication method improvements
• Attend internal and external project meetings

Key requirements

• Proven experience as Structural Engineer within structural steel or a fabrication-led environment
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication, connection design, and construction methods
• Experience with Tekla Structures or similar detailing/design software (desirable)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and Eurocodes
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with design, fabrication, and site teams
• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent (preferred)
