Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor in a growing structural steel contractor, you will manage project costs from award to final account and safeguard margins. You’ll collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to keep commercial and technical delivery aligned. Your work will influence profitability across multiple live projects, shaping commercial decisions and procurement strategies. This is a hands-on role with clear impact on project outcomes and career progression in a supportive team.
Responsibilities
- Manage project costs from contract award through final account
- Prepare valuations, cost reports and manage contract variations
- Monitor budgets with project teams to maximise profitability
- Review drawings, specifications and tender docs to identify commercial opportunities and risks
- Support procurement activities and subcontractor negotiations
- Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders
- Contribute to the commercial success of multiple live structural steel projects
Key requirements
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in structural steel, heavy fabrication, or construction
- Strong cost management, procurement and contract administration knowledge
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications
- Excellent commercial awareness with analytical and numerical skills
- Confident communication and relationship-building with clients and subcontractors
- Desirable: experience with QS software (CostX, Estimator or similar)
- Desirable: relevant QS qualification or related construction discipline
- Desirable: experience on structural steel fabrication projects
