Overview

In this role you will lead the project controls function for defence-related infrastructure programmes, ensuring accurate planning, cost management, and performance reporting. You will work within the UK Real Estate Controls & Performance team to support major construction projects for defence clients, shaping resource plans and governance. You’ll collaborate with client teams and cross-functional groups to drive dependable project delivery while upholding security and regulatory standards. Responsibilities

  • Lead the programme controls for major construction projects, monitoring plans, cost, safety, environment and performance reporting
  • Allocate and optimise controls team resources to support delivery
  • Review new proposals/remits and develop realistic, resourceable delivery plans
  • Identify and resolve resourcing requirements in collaboration with planning functions
  • Provide day-to-day reporting support to Programme and Project Managers on plans, costs, safety, environment and performance
  • Ensure data input to cost and performance systems meets data standards
  • Produce Investment Plan and comply with the Investment Competence Framework

Key requirements

  • Experience in Project Controls across multiple sectors and lifecycle
  • Proficiency in two or more Project Controls disciplines (Planning & Scheduling, Cost Estimation, Cost Management, Risk Management or Reporting)
  • Advanced understanding of Integrated Project Controls and organisational maturity assessment
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities; capable of coaching and developing teams
  • Degree in a relevant technical or management field or equivalent qualifications and experience
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g., APM, PMI)
  • Ability to make risk-based decisions in uncertain situations
  • Proficiency with the software/tools used for project controls
