Project Controls Engineer – Planning (Life Sciences/Pharma/Data Centres)

Overview

In this role you establish baselines for cost and schedule, apply governance and monitor performance, incorporating risk, opportunities and change. You’ll work with a remote cost-management team to ensure value for money and guide the contractor to align with the schedule and cash flow targets. You will act as the client’s main point of contact for delivery and commercial issues, producing executive-level reports. You’ll manage change, planning, procurement inputs, and risk quantification to support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Establish cost and schedule baselines and monitor performance against them
• Identify deviations using lead/lag indicators and recommend remedial actions
• Lead evaluation of time, cost, and quality targets with governance controls
• Coordinate with remote cost managers to secure a market-tested cost baseline
• Influence the general contractor to progress per schedule and cash flow targets
• Serve as client point of contact for delivery and commercial issues with formal/ad hoc reports
• Control costs using conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, and procurement principles
• Create/work within cost reports and executive dashboards
• Lead change management processes and track/approve changes
• Plan and run sessions to compile master project/programme schedules and baselines
• Coordinate procurement timelines and vendor schedules to meet install dates
• Involve project team in risk assessments and quantify impacts via Monte Carlo modeling
• Monitor project changes and communicate them for change approvals
• Hold vendors accountable for timely schedule updates and quality

Key requirements

• Proven project controls coordination experience across project lifecycles, with life sciences or data centre sector exposure
• Ability to derive corrective actions from data and evaluate information from multiple sources
• Advanced skills in MS Office and Primavera P6
• Strong service mindset and autonomous work style
• Reliable, time-management oriented, and able to meet deadlines
