The Senior Construction Manager / ChiefEngineer opportunity
We areinterested in hearing from experienced Senior Construction Managersand Chief Engineers who are looking for their next careeropportunity and would be interested in working on ThermeManchester.
Reporting into the senior projectleadership team, you will provide strong technical, constructionand leadership direction to support the safe, efficient andhigh-quality delivery of the project.
You willlead and coordinate teams of engineers, site management andsubcontractors, ensuring that construction, engineering and designactivities are effectively aligned with programme, quality, safetyand commercial objectives.
This is anopportunity to work on a major and complex construction project inManchester, developing your experience while playing a key role indelivering a landmark destination.
KeyResponsibilities
- Provide visible leadership across construction andengineering activities, promoting a strong culture of safety,quality and collaboration.
- Lead and coordinateengineering, site management, works teams and subcontractors toensure effective project delivery.
- Overseeconstruction engineering activities, ensuring designs,methodologies and procedures are appropriate and compliant withrelevant regulations, specifications and industrystandards.
- Coordinate design, engineering,procurement and construction activities to ensure alignment withthe project programme.
- Monitor projectprogress and identify risks and opportunities across design,procurement and construction activities, implementing appropriatemitigation measures.
- Identify, manage andmitigate technical and construction risks while supporting valueand performance improvements.
- Work closelywith the project and commercial teams to support delivery withinprogramme and budget requirements.
- Develop andmaintain strong relationships with clients, consultants,subcontractors and other key stakeholders.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance toengineering and construction teams.
- Set andmanage short- and long-term objectives, ensuring alignment withwider project goals.
- Contribute to internaland external project reporting, providing clear updates onprogress, risks, opportunities and technical matters.
- Maintain accurate and auditable records relating toengineering decisions, approvals, technical changes andconstruction activities.
Your profile
We are looking for experienced construction andengineering leaders who have a strong track record of deliveringlarge-scale or complex construction projects.
You will ideally:
- Haveproven experience as a Senior Construction Manager, Chief Engineer,Construction Manager or similar senior delivery role on majorconstruction projects.
- Have strong technicaland construction knowledge, with the ability to lead complexconstruction activities and multidisciplinary teams.
- Have experience managing and coordinating engineers, siteteams, subcontractors and wider project stakeholders.
- Have a strong understanding of construction methodology,sequencing, design coordination and project delivery.
- Be experienced in identifying and managing constructionand technical risks.
- Have excellentleadership, communication and stakeholder managementskills.
- Be commercially aware and able tounderstand the impact of construction decisions on programme, costand project performance.
- Be a strong advocatefor health, safety and wellbeing, with a proven commitment tomaintaining high standards across project delivery.
- Have experience working collaboratively with clients,consultants and supply chain partners.
- Hold anSMSTS qualification and valid CSCS card.
