Job Description:

This six-month temporary contract as an HR Advisor in Sunderland offers £38,000 to £43,000 annually, working full time on sickness cover for Northern Powergrid’s People team. The successful candidate provides practical guidance to managers and stakeholders within a dedicated directorate. Duties span employee relations, recruitment, performance management, absence, wellbeing, organisational change, and learning. Applicants need strong coaching ability, sound employment law knowledge, and a customer-focused approach. The position suits an experienced professional who can influence at all levels and manage competing priorities. Hybrid working may be available between Sunderland or Shiremoor sites.

HR Advisor 6-month sickness cover £38-43k Sunderland or Shiremoor Pertemps are actively recruiting on behalf of Northern Powergrid for an experienced HR Advisor to join their People team. This is an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused HR professional to provide practical, people-focused advice and support to managers and key stakeholders across a dedicated business area. You’ll play an important role in supporting a wide range of HR activity, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, absence, wellbeing, organisational change and learning and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive HR advisory service across a dedicated directorate
  • Coach and support managers on employee relations matters including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance
  • Advise managers on recruitment, resourcing and organisational changes
  • Support talent development and performance improvement plans
  • Provide HR input into projects, change programmes and working groupsUse HR data and metrics to identify trends and support continuous improvement
  • Build strong relationships with managers, colleagues and trade union representatives
  • Work closely with the wider People Services team and provide support to the People Business Partner
  • Ensure a high-quality, customer-focused HR service is delivered

We’re looking for an experienced HR professional who can demonstrate:

  • CIPD qualification
  • Significant generalist HR experience within a large or complex organisation
  • Experience working in an HR advisory or business partnering environment
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders, including at Director level
  • Experience supporting and implementing organisational change
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and IT systems
  • A full clean driving licence

Desirable:

  • Degree in HR, Business or a related subject
  • Experience working within a trade union recognised environment
  • HR experience within a blue-collar or operational industry
