HGV / Commercial Vehicle Technician

Glasgow

£20.00 – £25.00 per hour (£47,(Apply online only)- £58,500 per annum)

Hours: Monday – Friday | 45 hours per week Working Hours: 7:30am – 5:00pm

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced HGV / Commercial Vehicle Technician to join a well-established, independent commercial vehicle business based in Glasgow.

Our client operates a modern, well-equipped workshop, providing servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across a wide range of commercial vehicles, from light commercial vans through to heavy goods vehicles.

Working with an established portfolio of blue-chip customers, the business prides itself on providing a high standard of service whilst maintaining a positive and supportive working environment for its technicians.

Unlike many high-pressure workshop environments, our client places a strong emphasis on manageable workloads, employee wellbeing and ensuring technicians have the time and facilities required to complete work to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs across a wide range of commercial vehicles, including LCVs, LGVs and HGVs.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and vehicle system faults.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy.
  • Carry out MOT preparation, vehicle inspections, servicing,and brake testing.
  • Work across a multi-brand fleet, gaining exposure to various makes and models of commercial vehicles.
  • Identify defects and complete necessary repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of servicing, maintenance and repair work.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently, maintaining high workshop standards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, LGV Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician or HGV Mechanic.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of commercial vehicles, ideally including heavy goods vehicles.
  • Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections and mechanical repairs.
  • Confident diagnosing and repairing faults across different vehicle manufacturers.
  • Relevant qualifications in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) would be desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an established workshop team.
  • A proactive approach to vehicle maintenance, safety and quality workmanship.
