Care Home Chef / Cook
Location: Ecclefechan£15.25 per hour | £20,221.50 per annum | 25.5 hours per week | Permanent | No Sponsorship or Visa Switch Available
A well-established care home in the Ecclefechan area is looking for an experienced and motivated Chef / Cook to join their team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking for others and can take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, preparing nutritious, varied and appetising meals for residents.
What we are offering
- Permanent contract – 25.5 hours per week
- 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Competitive rate of £15.25 per hour
- Annual salary of £20,221.50
- Additional hours may be available when required

Roles and responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals for residents
- Cater for individual dietary requirements, allergies and preferences
- Assist with menu planning to ensure meals are nutritious, varied and balanced
- Order and manage food supplies within budget
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety
- Keep the kitchen and food preparation areas clean, organised and well maintained
- Ensure all relevant food safety and hygiene regulations are followed
What we are looking for
- Previous experience working as a Chef or Cook
- Experience working in a care home or similar setting is desirable
- Experience of working independently and managing a kitchen
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Previous supervisory experience would be advantageous
- City & Guilds or other relevant catering qualification is desirable
- PVG membership or willingness to undergo the required checks
- Full eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship or visa switch available)
