About the role

As our Activities Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for creating and delivering a varied programme of activities that reflects the interests, abilities and individual wishes of our residents.

You’ll be encouraged to think creatively, try new things and involve residents in shaping what happens in the home.

Your role will include:

  • Getting to know our residents and understanding their interests, hobbies, preferences and activity needs through conversation, observation and assessment.

  • Creating and delivering a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities that gives residents choice and encourages participation.

  • Exploring new ideas, resources and opportunities, including working with local community groups and external organisations.

  • Organising themed events, celebrations and fundraising activities throughout the year.

  • Planning and organising outings and trips, making sure appropriate staffing, safety and risk assessments are in place.

  • Managing the monthly activities budget for entertainment, materials and outings in line with company procedures.

  • Completing and maintaining appropriate risk assessments for activities and outings.

  • Producing engaging newsletters to showcase what’s been happening in the home.

  • Taking photographs of residents enjoying activities and creating engaging content for our social media channels.

  • Working closely with the wider team to make sure activities are inclusive, meaningful and appropriate for our residents.

  • Encouraging residents to get involved while respecting individual choices when they don’t want to participate.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings energy, enthusiasm and plenty of ideas to the role.

You’ll be someone who:

  • Is naturally creative and enjoys thinking of new ideas.

  • Has a genuine interest in working with older people.

  • Is confident encouraging people to get involved without putting pressure on them.

  • Is organised and able to plan activities, events and outings effectively.

  • Has excellent communication skills and enjoys building relationships.

  • Is happy getting involved and isn’t afraid to have a bit of fun!

  • Can work independently while also being a great team player.

  • Has good attention to detail and understands the importance of safety and risk assessments.

  • Is comfortable taking photographs and creating content for social media.

  • Has a positive can-do attitude and is always looking for ways to make things better.

Previous experience in an activities role, care setting, events, community work or a similar environment would be desirable, but we’re more interested in your personality, creativity and passion for making a difference.
