The role:

Are you an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist looking to develop your specialist skills within Mental Health Services? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team. In this rewarding role, you will work with individuals experiencing complex mental health needs, helping them achieve greater independence, wellbeing and quality of life. You will have the opportunity to lead on specialist interventions, contribute to service development and support the growth of junior colleagues. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Part-time, Permanent
  • You will be based at The Stewart Centre
  • Working Pattern: Monday – Friday
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a specialist caseload of service users with complex mental health needs using evidence-based and person-centred approaches
  • Deliver comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, interventions and outcome evaluations to maximise independence and recovery
  • Act as a specialist resource providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues, carers and partner agencies
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment, care planning, risk management and service delivery
  • Supervise, mentor and support junior staff and occupational therapy students
  • Lead or contribute to audit, quality improvement and service development projects
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, reports and activity data in line with professional and organisational standards

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Proven specialist Occupational Therapy knowledge and experience within Mental Health Services
  • Experience of working effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams
  • Highly developed communication, assessment, observation and risk management skills
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, audit processes and evidence-based practice
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and provide leadership and supervision to junior staff and students
