A newly created opportunity exists for a Cyber Security Engineer to join a growing managed services team based in Fareham, Hampshire, responsible for the deployment and in-life support of cybersecurity services across a client base. The ideal candidate will work within a team delivering and maintaining both client-facing services and back-end infrastructure, spanning EDR, vulnerability management, SIEM/SOAR, email filtering, and user training, and will need to be eligible for SC clearance, which will be sponsored.
Responsibilities:
- Deploy cybersecurity services across the client base including EDR platforms (SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender), vulnerability management (Qualys, CheckRed CSPA), email filtering (Mimecast, FortiMail), SIEM/SOAR (FortiSIEM, FortiSOAR), Microsoft Sentinel, user training and phishing simulation (KnowBe4, CybSafe), and other Fortinet products (FortiDLP, FortiAnalyzer, FortiDeceptor, FortiNDR)
- Deploy Linux VMs supporting SIEM and SOAR platforms
- Follow and maintain documented rollout processes to a high standard
- Monitor the health of cybersecurity infrastructure (client-based and internal) and investigate alerts as required
- Respond to client support queries, providing effective and efficient resolution of in-life issues
- Proactively identify potential service issues and work with clients and colleagues to ensure continuity of service
- Plan and execute projects to improve existing services and roll out new products
- Use the ITSM platform (Ivanti) to track deployments, incidents, problems and changes
- Support the internal IT function including user onboarding/offboarding, laptop builds, access management via Entra, endpoint configuration via Intune, and troubleshooting
- Assist in development, handover and documentation of new services and transition into live SOC operation
- Identify security incidents within client estates not detected by standard SOC operations and elevate as required
- Communicate with clients via telephone, IM and email in a professional manner at all times
Skills/Must Have:
- Practical IT support experience covering desktop, server and networking
- Minimum 12 months as 1st/2nd line support at a managed service provider, or 2 years in a traditional IT support role
- Eligible to obtain SC clearance (sponsored by the business)
- Understanding of cybersecurity issues, latest developments, risks and solutions
- Ability to self-manage workload and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail across all aspects of the role
- Customer-service oriented with a problem-solving attitude
- Good written and verbal communication skills, able to engage non-technical audiences
- Strong team player with a desire to share knowledge
