We are currently seeking a Business Support Officer to join our Planning & Public Protection team within the Environment and Regeneration Directorate.
This is a permanent, part-time role for 15 hours per week. You will provide a wide range of general administrative support to the Environmental Health & Trading Standards Service and help maintain excellent standards of customer service.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Processing documents and creating, storing and retrieving records.
- Inputting data and using a range of computer systems.
- Undertaking scanning, filing, photocopying and other general office duties.
- Answering telephone calls, taking messages and recording reports and complaints.
- Sorting and registering incoming mail and arranging the despatch of outgoing mail.
- Distributing information and collecting and collating data, including annual leave and sickness records.
- Assisting the Business Manager with debtor invoices, requisitions for goods and services and records of expenditure.
- Maintaining safe systems of work, supporting equal opportunities and providing excellent customer service at all times.
- Championing innovation, digital development and data-led decision-making to improve service efficiency, assurance and customer experience.
Do you have:
- The ability to undertake a varied range of administrative tasks by following clear rules, procedures and established techniques?
- The ability to make basic work decisions and resolve routine job-related problems?
- Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to exchange information and provide routine explanations and advice?
- Word processing skills to Level 2 standard and the ability to use office equipment and computer systems?
- The ability to read, check, sort, record and prioritise information accurately, and to plan and organise your own workload?
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and deal tactfully and diplomatically with sensitive situations?
An NVQ Level 2 in Business & Administration, or an equivalent qualification or equivalent experience, is desirable. Experience of Excel and PowerPoint to Level 2 standard and a basic understanding of corporate policies and procedures would also be beneficial.
