Security Support Engineer

Overview

In this Security Support Engineer role, you protect Virgin Media O₂’s systems and services by engineering and operating a range of security platforms. You’ll keep tooling available and effective, configure security policies, and support SOC monitoring services. You’ll contribute to automation and integration of security systems, troubleshoot incidents, deploy new rules, and help with upgrades, audits and continuous improvement. You work with cross-functional teams and vendors to strengthen security at scale, within a flexible, inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and operational support for security platforms to ensure reliability and effectiveness
• Configure and maintain technical security policies and monitoring services used by the SOC
• Contribute to automation and integration of security systems
• Troubleshoot incidents and deploy new rules; support upgrades, audits and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with internal teams and technology vendors to resolve problems and strengthen security capabilities

Key requirements

• Strong understanding of Windows Server and Linux operating systems (Red Hat)
• Experience with network troubleshooting tools and methods
• Scripting or coding experience in Bash, Python or PowerShell
• Experience with a SIEM solution (ArcSight, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel or Google Chronicle)
• CompTIA Security+ certification
