Overview

As a Murphy Quantity Surveyor, you will support energy-led substation projects at Llandyfaelog and Aberthaw, helping to manage commercial performance on EPC/off-site teams. You’ll contribute to cost reporting, valuations, and subcontract administration across the project lifecycle. The role sits within a commercial team aligned to top-tier energy clients, delivering value through robust cost control and change management. You’ll work on innovative energy infrastructure, supporting long-term energy security and decarbonisation goals. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape project commercial outcomes in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in internal commercial reporting and other required reports
  • Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full documentation
  • Manage cost reports for the client with contract-compliant documentation
  • Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from requisitions to final accounts
  • Perform contract administration including change management and maintain registers
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
  • Measure quantities per standard methods of measurement
  • Assist in final accounts preparation
  • Draft subcontracts including professional services

Key requirements

  • HND/Degree qualification
  • Proven experience in a Commercial role (Assistant QS, QS, or similar)
  • Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership
  • Excellent knowledge of NEC forms and Standard Methods of Measurement
  • Valuations/Applications for Payment
  • Cost reporting and cost allocation
  • Subcontract administration and procurement scheduling
  • Change management and contract administration
  • Measurement of quantities (SMM)
  • Drafting of subcontracts
