Staff Quality Engineer – Mobile

Overview

In this role you will drive the mobile quality strategy for Lendable’s Zable app, ensuring fast release cycles without compromising reliability. You will set and maintain a pragmatic test pyramid, partner with cross-functional teams to improve quality, and push AI-assisted testing and observability into the SDLC. You will work hands-on to build reliable automation and guide others on quality practices. Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the mobile test strategy for React Native apps, balancing E2E and faster-layer tests
• Define coverage, reliability, and speed trade-offs; set the bar for ready-to-ship on mobile
• Enable and rotate across product teams to raise quality across the portfolio
• Develop and maintain performance benchmarks to prevent regressions
• Bring AI testing into the SDLC and leverage AI to accelerate test authoring and failure triage
• Build reliable end-to-end automation; identify and close coverage gaps
• Create easy-to-use test environments and data fixtures; reduce flakiness and explain root causes
• Collaborate with product and engineering on shift-left quality and surface risk before code is written
• Close production issue loops with observability data (Datadog, Sentry, Grafana) and enforce SLOs
• Lead targeted exploratory testing for high-risk releases when appropriate

Key requirements

• Hands-on experience with Maestro or Detox
• 5+ years in quality engineering or test automation with proven maintenance of automated suites
• Experience in a scaled engineering environment with multiple teams and priorities
• Hands-on programming in test code, frameworks, CI pipelines and helper scripts
• API and contract testing experience with test data and environment strategy
• Experience setting and measuring Service Level Objectives for reliability
• Native AI-assisted working style; demonstrated use of AI to improve quality processes
• Coaching or evangelising quality practices across disciplines
• Experience shaping CI/CD pipelines for test reliability (GitHub Actions or similar)
