Overview

In this role you will oversee accurate, on-time monthly payroll across Germany and other entities within remit, ensuring regulatory and tax compliance. You will advise senior HR and country managers on payroll-related tax matters and coordinate with finance to post payroll costs accurately. You’ll implement controls and workflows to meet audits and regulatory requirements, while leading payroll-related vendor interactions and cross-functional reporting. Your work will support reliable payroll delivery in a multi-entity environment and help drive compliant, data-driven payroll processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure on-time, 100% accurate monthly payroll for employees across multiple legal entities within remit
  • Ensure compliance with country laws and regulatory/third-party payments across payroll
  • Advise Country Managers and Senior HR Business Partners on tax matters related to payroll and benefits
  • Ensure accurate posting of payroll and benefits to General Ledger accounts and financial statements
  • Establish robust operating procedures and controls for payroll-related transactions and audits
  • Coordinate timely input from various sources to submit payroll base salary, one-time incentives, variable pay and life-change actions to payroll vendors
  • Review net salary calculations during pre-payroll validations
  • Ensure timely, accurate employee pay statements and respond to employee inquiries
  • Meet regulatory, tax, compliance, and reporting requirements monthly and annually for payroll and benefits
  • Provide timely payroll-related financial reporting to Finance for reconciliations
  • Maintain documentation aligned with corporate policies and regulatory bodies
  • Lead client relationship meetings with country stakeholders to review performance and actions

Key requirements

  • Experience with Germany payroll and benefits tax legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to train and cover other EMEA country payroll as needed
  • Proactive risk management and control implementation in dynamic environments
  • Experience managing relationships with third-party outsourced payroll vendors
  • Strong written and verbal English (mandatory) and German (preferrable) communications
  • Ability to develop and mentor junior payroll staff
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Knowledge of posting payroll to General Ledger and financial statements
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills
