Overview

As Site Quality Engineer (Piping), you will support a major nuclear power plant construction in the UK, ensuring piping erection quality and conformance with ITPs. You will review quality documents, witness inspections, and liaise with inspectors and authorities to maintain compliance. You’ll identify deviations, drive corrective actions, and ensure traceability and timely records. You’ll contribute to audits and quality improvement initiatives in a safety‑critical, high‑stakes project.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Witness and Hold Points per ITPs; review and approve quality documents (ITPs, welding procedures, material certificates)
  • Witness inspections and testing of piping systems to verify compliance
  • Coordinate with external inspectors and regulatory authorities for inspections and approvals
  • Identify deviations, initiate corrective actions, and verify resolution effectiveness
  • Maintain documentation and traceability for piping components and welds
  • Ensure timely submission of records and quality documentation
  • Participate in audits and support quality improvement initiatives

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • 3–5 years’ experience in quality engineering for piping systems in large-scale industrial or nuclearProjects
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical erection processes and quality standards
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety regulations (PESR-PED)
  • Valid certification in non-destructive testing (NDT)
  • Skilled in interpreting drawings, inspection practices, and using quality management systems
