Overview

As a Digital Product Owner in National Grid’s Network Design Team, you own the application backlog and release roadmap to support the design, optimisation and management of England and Wales’ electricity transmission network. You will act as the primary customer advocate, aligning business and technology strategy while balancing stakeholder needs. You’ll shepherd the full lifecycle from discovery to live service, driving adoption and continuous improvement. This role offers hybrid working from Warwick and a chance to contribute to the UK’s net-zero energy goals.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the application backlog, write user stories and acceptance criteria, and prioritise features, defects, and technical debt.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and coordinate UAT, release readiness, and feedback loops.
  • Contribute to release notes, user guidance, and stakeholder communications to ensure smooth adoption.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, developers, and testers to deliver requirements as intended.
  • Support prioritisation by assessing value, risk, complexity, dependencies and operational impact.
  • Monitor application performance, incidents and service levels with support teams and feed insights back to the backlog.
  • Manage configuration, release and upgrade cycles, including third-party vendor roadmaps.
  • Promote app adoption across the business and identify training or usability improvements.

Key requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience owning or supporting a business application through its lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Agile and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Analytical mindset with interest in systems, business processes and user-centered design.
  • Experience with cross-functional teams including business users, architects, engineers, testers and support.
