Overview

In this Building Safety Consultant role, you support Arcadis design teams as Principal Designer to ensure Building Regulations compliance across diverse projects. You work with clients to embed building safety into design and navigate regulatory requirements under Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act. The role blends client-facing advisory work with technical delivery, contributing to Arcadis’ aim to be an industry leader in building safety. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position with high impact on complex built-environment projects.

Responsibilities

  • Advise design teams and stakeholders on Building Regulations requirements
  • Assess designs, surveys and inspections for compliance
  • Guide building control processes across project lifecycles
  • Support Principal Designer delivery under Building Regulations framework
  • Participate in client and design team meetings
  • facilitate workshops on Building Regulations compliance
  • Provide technical expertise to internal teams and stakeholders
  • Ensure alignment with current Building Regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with designers to review regulatory compliance and develop practical solutions
  • Prepare building regulation submission packages for HRBs and non-HRBs
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify missing information for approvals
  • Deliver Building Regulations compliance training
  • Apply quality assurance in daily activities
  • Stay updated with legislation and best practices
  • Maintain BPSS and Security Check (SC) readiness

Key requirements

  • 5+ years in delivering design or building control services
  • Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture or related field
  • Residential and/or Healthcare experience preferred
  • BICoF Class 2F or Class 3 registration or equivalent knowledge (preferred)
  • Membership with CABE, RICS, RIBA, CIAT or CIOB
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and Building Safety Act 2022
  • CDM 2015 knowledge
  • Background in architecture, design/engineering or building control
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills
  • Highly organized with multi-project management ability
  • Flexible to work across UK offices and client sites
  • BPSS and SC clearance capability
