Technical Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the technical and commercial delivery for a busy rotating equipment operation. You’ll act as the front line with customers and glue between cross-functional teams to drive quotations, proposals, and tender submissions. You’ll oversee workshop and field service activities, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality delivery while building strong customer and supplier relationships. You’ll shape continuous improvement and support business growth through technical consulting and site visits. This is a senior, impact-driven management position that blends technical leadership with commercial enablement.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation of workshop and field service teams
• Oversee pump repairs, overhauls, inspections, alignment, and performance testing
• Review technical assessments, repair specifications, and engineering reports
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards
• Support preparation of quotations, repair proposals, and tender submissions
• Work with customers to provide technical advice and identify solutions
• Drive continuous improvement, workshop efficiency, and commercial performance
• Build and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships
• Support business growth through technical consultations, site surveys, and project opportunities

Key requirements

• Strong background in rotating equipment or industrial mechanical engineering with minimum 5 years of experience
• Knowledge of pump systems including centrifugal pumps, positive displacement, multistage, and submersible pumps (ideal)
• Experience with fault finding, vibration analysis, bearings, mechanical seals, and alignment
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering reports, and performance data
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Commercial awareness with experience supporting quotations and customer proposals
• Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
