An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and self-motivated individual to join the Quality Team as a Quality and Safety Manager. The role will suit someone with experience in quality assurance, healthcare governance, quality improvement or patient safety, supported by strong analytical, report-writing and stakeholder engagement skills.
The post holder will support the implementation of the ICB’s Quality Strategy, provide assurance and improvement support to commissioned providers, and contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care across the system.

Reporting to the Senior Quality and Safety Manager, you will work as part of an experienced and collaborative team, contributing to a varied programme of assurance, governance, monitoring and improvement activities aligned to the ICB’s priorities for quality, safety and improvement.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the implementation and monitoring of the ICB’s Quality Strategy and associated work programmes. They will contribute to quality assurance, quality improvement and patient safety across commissioned services, develop effective relationships with providers and stakeholders, and support the identification, escalation and management of quality risks and concerns.
The role includes maintaining effective quality systems, contributing to monitoring and reporting arrangements, and preparing reports for senior leaders and committees. You will analyse and interpret complex and sensitive information from a range of sources, presenting findings clearly to support assurance, governance, risk management and improvement.
You will contribute to service reviews, audits and improvement activities, supporting recommendations and action plans that promote learning and improve standards of care. Working with colleagues across quality, commissioning and safeguarding, provider organisations and system partners, you will help strengthen quality monitoring, improvement planning and the management of quality concerns.

The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities. It has a wide range of functions, including; promoting integration of health and care services, improving peoples health and well-being, reducing health inequalities.
With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria. As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community- based area providers.
The ICB works with our Provider Collaborative too, this includes the 11 NHS Foundation Trusts in the region, to deliver our shared priorities.

Qualifications
- Evidence of sustained personal & professional development
- Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
- Master’s level qualification or equivalent experience
- Health care experience is essential with a demonstrable track record of success in NHS organisation
- Experience in the management of multi-project programmes of work.
- Experience in performance management approaches including analysis of data and performance reporting.
- Clinical Registration – NMC/HCPC
- Whole systems management
- Experience of commissioning and oversight and assurance / regulatory organisations
