Are you a hands-on Maintenance Engineer looking to join a business that genuinely invests in its people, training, and long-term career development?

We are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing facility in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with either a mechanical or electrical bias who is looking to develop their skills within a supportive and forward-thinking engineering team.

The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the performance of production equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and supporting the operational needs of the site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
  • Responding to breakdowns and conducting effective fault finding.
  • Diagnosing and repairing both mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records through a CMMS system.
  • Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with site procedures.
  • Assisting with small projects, equipment upgrades, and site improvements.

About You

We are interested in speaking with engineers from manufacturing, FMCG, food, packaging, logistics, recycling, automotive, or other fast‑paced production environments.

To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • A recognised Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or Apprenticeship).
  • At least 3 years’ experience within a manufacturing or process environment.
  • Either a mechanical or electrical bias with a basic understanding of the opposite discipline.
  • Experience working with pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
  • A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Desirable Experience

  • FMCG or high-volume manufacturing experience.
  • Steam systems, water treatment or utilities knowledge.
  • Electrical testing and inspection qualifications.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Continuous improvement or project involvement.
