About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a full-time Autism Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Bourne area from September 2026 on a long‑term basis.The setting supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated social, emotional and communication needs. The provision delivers a structured and supportive learning environment, with a strong emphasis on routine, consistency and personalised support to help pupils achieve their individual EHCP outcomes.The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and wider support teams to help pupils access learning, develop independence and build confidence in a specialist educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism
  • Support the delivery of personalised learning activities and interventions
  • Use structured communication approaches and visual support strategies where appropriate
  • Promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Encourage the development of independence and social skills
  • Implement EHCP targets and individual support plans
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
  • Support pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism (school, care or similar setting desirable)
  • A patient, calm and consistent approach
  • Understanding of autism-friendly practices and communication strategies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
