Join us as a Design Engineer for Maincor (part of Floplast Limited)

Maincor specialise in innovative plumbing solutions and underfloor heating. We are proud to have introduced several innovative products into the UK that help minimize heat loss. We work across the UK with customers in the building and construction sectors.

Maincor are a department of Floplast Limited, within the wienerberger UK & Ireland – Water & Heating division.

About the role

As a Design Engineer you will be supporting excellent customer service and sales performance through the delivery of accurate technical designs, quotations and product guidance. You’ll work closely with customers, installers and internal teams to develop high-quality solutions that meet customer requirements while helping to maximise conversion rates and commercial performance.

Duties also include:

  • Booking in new design quotes
  • Value engineering design quotes to improve conversion rates
  • Providing technical input to create margin opportunities within designs
  • Producing CAD designs
  • Fielding technical product and design queries
  • Providing system and product technical guidance
  • Producing building heat loss data
  • Responding to technical sales follow up enquiries
  • Producing technical documentation for heating systems
  • Producing plumbing design take-offs for hot and cold services

This role plays an important part in maintaining customer satisfaction, protecting our reputation, and supporting growth within the heat pump and renewable energy market. Your work will help customers receive the right solution first time while supporting the successful delivery of technical and commercial objectives across the business.

There are opportunities to develop your technical expertise, broaden your commercial knowledge, and collaborate with colleagues across sales, operations, technical and customer-facing teams.

This position will be based at our Maincor Sales/Technical Office in Hinckley.

About you

Essential

  • Proficiency in CAD software and the production of technical drawings and system layouts
  • Experience interpreting customer requirements and producing accurate technical quotations and design proposals
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on improving conversion rates and increasing profitability
  • Experience providing technical support and guidance to customers, installers, contractors and sales teams
  • Strong written communication skills with experience producing technical documentation, specifications and supporting literature
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines in a customer-focused environment

Desirable

  • Knowledge of heating, plumbing, HVAC, building services or renewable energy system design
  • Knowledge of heating system design principles, including heat pumps and renewable heating technologies
  • Experience undertaking building heat loss calculations and system sizing
  • Knowledge of hot and cold water services design and plumbing take-offs
