We are seeking a proactive, organized, and skilled Design & Technology Technician to join an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted-rated secondary school in Maida Vale.
This role is vital to the smooth running of a vibrant and well-resourced DT department. You will work alongside experienced teaching staff to maintain workshop facilities, manage machinery, and support students in practical Design Technology, Product Design, and Engineering lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
- * Prepare timber, metals, plastics, and tools required for Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level practical sessions.
- * Maintain, service, and ensure the safe operation of workshop machinery (e.g., band saws, sanders, pillar drills, 3D printers, and laser cutters).
- * Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety standards (DATA guidelines) across all workshops and prep rooms.
- * Support teachers and students during practical lessons, demonstrating tool usage and offering technical guidance.
- * Manage department stock levels, conduct annual inventory checks, and place orders for materials and consumables.

Requirements:
- * Previous experience as a DT Technician in a school environment OR relevant background in carpentry, engineering, or practical design trades.
- * Strong knowledge of workshop machinery and Health & Safety procedures (H&S/DATA qualifications are advantageous).
- * Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., 2D Design, SolidWorks, 3D printing) is desirable.
- * Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
