Vehicle Technician – Armed Forces & Veterans
Location: DoncasterPositions: 8 Permanent OpportunitiesContract: Permanent, Full-Time
Take your military engineering experience into civilian automotive
Major Forces is recruiting 8 Vehicle Technicians for a major automotive operation in Doncaster.
This is an opportunity we know works for the Armed Forces community because we have already successfully placed military personnel into these roles.
If you have developed your vehicle maintenance and engineering experience during your military career but haven’t previously worked within the UK commercial automotive sector, that does not rule you out.
Previous UK commercial automotive experience is not required.
What you’ll be doing
Working within a large automotive operation, your responsibilities will include:
Vehicle inspection and fault diagnosis
Mechanical servicing and maintenance
Identifying and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
Carrying out repairs and component replacement
Working in accordance with technical and safety procedures
Accurately recording completed work
Supporting vehicle preparation and refurbishment activities
Working as part of an established technical team
What we’re looking for
You must hold:
NVQ Level 3 / IMI Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or an accepted equivalent qualification.
We’re particularly interested in hearing from:
REME Vehicle Mechanics
Armed Forces vehicle technicians
Military mechanical and automotive engineers
Service leavers currently in resettlement
Veterans with relevant vehicle maintenance experience
Your military experience can be considered alongside your qualifications – you do not need previous UK commercial automotive experience to apply.
Develop your HV capability
You do not need to arrive with all of the available High Voltage qualifications.
There is a technical development pathway through:
Level 3 Vehicle Technician → HV Level 2 → HV Level 3 → HV Level 4 → HVT+
Training can be provided to develop your HV capability and support progression through the technical levels.
Why consider this opportunity?
For someone transitioning from the Armed Forces, securing that first civilian opportunity can often be the hardest step.
This role provides the opportunity to:
Transfer your military engineering experience into civilian automotive
Join an established, major automotive operation
Gain UK commercial automotive experience
Develop specialist electric and hybrid vehicle capability
Work towards further HV technical qualifications
Build a long-term civilian automotive career
Most importantly, other military personnel have already successfully made this transition through Major Forces into these roles.
Interested?
If you’re currently serving, approaching your discharge date, in resettlement or have already left the Armed Forces, we’d like to hear from you.
