Assistant Management Accountant

Are you looking to broaden your management accounting experience and take on a varied role?
We are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant for an established business. You will gain exposure to different business operations and contribute to reporting, planning and the day-to-day finance function.
You will join a collaborative team where you can build your experience, take responsibility and help improve how the finance function operates.
The role
- Assisting with monthly management accounts across four UK entities.
- Preparing accruals, prepayments and other month-end journals.
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining fixed asset registers.
- Analysing variances, identifying trends and explaining changes in financial performance.
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with departmental managers.
- Assisting with cashflow management and projections.
- Working closely with site managers and finance colleagues to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
- Supporting recruitment and the day-to-day management of accounts payable and receivable.
- Assisting with year-end audits and liaising with external auditors.
- Contributing to process improvements and finance system enhancements.
- There will also be very occasional travel to other UK sites when required.
About you
We are looking for a personable, proactive finance professional who enjoys understanding the figures and working with colleagues across a business.
You will bring:
- Relevant experience in assistant management accounting or a similar finance role, with practical exposure to month-end.
- Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or equivalent status, with ongoing studies.
- A sound understanding of management accounting principles.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software.
- The ability to work independently, organise competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and a willingness to investigate issues and suggest improvements.
- A full driving licence and willingness to undertake occasional UK travel.
The package
- £32,000 annual salary.
- Full-time, permanent employment.
- 20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service.
