Job Purpose

To provide high-quality person-centred care and support to individuals living in their own homes, promoting independence, dignity, choice, and wellbeing. The role involves assisting service users with daily living activities while ensuring their safety, comfort, and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Care

  • Assist individuals with washing, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Support with toileting and continence care.
  • Assist with mobility and safe transfers using appropriate equipment.
  • Promote independence and encourage participation in daily activities.

Medication Support

  • Prompt or assist with medication in accordance with company policies and training.
  • Accurately record medication support provided.
  • Report medication concerns or errors immediately.

Daily Living Support

  • Assist with meal preparation and nutritional needs.
  • Support with shopping and household tasks.
  • Encourage healthy lifestyles and hydration.
  • Assist with attending appointments and community activities.

Emotional and Social Support

  • Provide companionship and emotional reassurance.
  • Encourage social interaction and community involvement.
  • Respect individual beliefs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds.

Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate care records and daily notes.
  • Report any changes in physical or mental wellbeing.
  • Follow confidentiality and data protection requirements.

Safeguarding and Health & Safety

  • Recognise and report safeguarding concerns.
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Comply with moving and handling guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for service users and colleagues.

Person Specification

  • Caring, compassionate, and respectful attitude.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, honest, and flexible.
  • Understanding of dignity, privacy, and person-centred care.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Previous experience in health and social care.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and care regulations.
