Lead Control Software Engineer – Humanoid RoboticsA leading technology business is developing advanced humanoid robots designed for real-world industrial applications.

We are looking for a Lead Control Software Engineer to develop the real-time software responsible for controlling the movement and behaviour of these robotic systems.

This is a highly hands-on role combining robotics control, software development and technical leadership.

The Role

As a Lead Control Software Engineer, you will:

  • Develop real-time control software for humanoid robots.
  • Develop and optimise production-quality C and Python.
  • Take control algorithms from research and prototype through to production.
  • Deploy and validate software on physical robotic systems.
  • Work with simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Contribute to software architecture and technical decisions.
  • Develop automated testing and software release processes.
  • Work closely with robotics, mechanical, AI and systems engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
  • Help establish engineering standards as the robotic platform scales.

About You

We are looking for a Lead Control Software Engineer with strong experience developing control software for complex robotic systems.

You should have

  • Significant commercial experience in robotics control software.
  • Strong hands-on C experience.
  • Strong Python skills.
  • Experience with real-time control systems.
  • Experience with ROS2, real-time Linux and/or an RTOS.
  • Experience taking algorithms from research/prototype into production.
  • Experience with robotics simulation and HIL testing.
  • Experience validating software on physical robots.
  • Experience contributing to software architecture.
  • Understanding of automated testing, CI/CD and software releases.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring.
