Overview

In this role you will lead the Housing and Property procurement category within the Corporate Procurement Team, shaping strategies that deliver savings, social value and compliant, value-for-money outcomes. You will work with commissioners, contract managers and leaders to steer major, high-value projects from planning through mobilisation. The role combines category leadership, stakeholder influence and coaching to build a high-performing team. Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate procurement activity for the Housing and Property category, overseeing contracts and sourcing activity
  • Manage relationships with commissioners, contract managers, Heads of Service and Directors
  • Use spend and market data to shape category priorities and drive value for money
  • Lead major, complex, high-value procurement projects from planning to mobilisation
  • Oversee projects across the category and provide line management, coaching and professional support

Key requirements

  • Strong knowledge of housing and property procurement including repairs, construction, facilities management, estates, compliance and capital works
  • Substantial procurement and category management experience with understanding of public procurement legislation and commercial best practices
  • Experience leading complex, high-value procurement projects from early planning and market engagement through to award and mobilisation
  • Ability to use spend, market and supplier insights to shape priorities, manage risk and deliver value and social value
  • Effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills with senior stakeholders in a politically sensitive environment
