Multi Skilled Operative

Overview

In this role you will operate fixed or mobile plant at Stancombe Quarry and Asphalt Plant, contributing to on-time delivery of quality materials. You’ll work with a cross-functional team to plan the mixing program, maintain stocks, and support production targets while upholding safety, environmental, and quality standards. You’ll gain experience across plant operations, maintenance, and housekeeping, with training provided. This is a people-focused role within a supportive, inclusive company that values development and a pathway to supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile and fixed plant to meet production needs
• Collaborate with the team to plan mixing program and manage stock levels
• Ensure on-time deliveries of quality materials
• Support supervisors in achieving daily/weekly targets
• Maintain safety, health, environmental and quality standards
• Conduct plant inspections and address defects with remedial action
• Assist in maintenance regime to maximise plant availability
• Maintain high standard of housekeeping around site

Key requirements

• Proven experience in an industrial, factory, or similar environment as an operative or labourer
• Strong communication skills
• Desire to develop both operative and supervisory skills
• Knowledge of plant operations and ideally quarry/mobile plant experience
• Shovel and dump truck licence – desirable
• Flexible and able to work within a multi-skilled team
• Self-motivated with ability to motivate others
• Good timekeeping and adaptability to unit requirements
• Full UK driving licence
• IT literate
• Previous quarry experience beneficial but not essential (training provided)
