Overview

In this Associate Director role, you lead end-to-end cost management on major infrastructure commissions, acting as the primary client interface to ensure objectives are met with value-driven services. You drive feasibility, cost planning, procurement, change control and post-contract cost reporting, while guiding a cost management team and pursuing new business opportunities. You will collaborate with clients and other consultants to shape outcomes, improve procedures and deliver successful project economics. The role offers high visibility on a London-based project within a renowned advisory practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commission management and end-to-end service delivery for large/complex projects
  • Conduct feasibility studies and draft procurement reports
  • Apply value management techniques at project outset
  • Own cost planning, estimating and presenting final cost plans
  • Manage procurement processes from pre-qualification to contract award
  • Oversee post-contract cost variances and change control
  • Oversee cost checking, valuation work and monthly post-contract reports
  • Lead value engineering and lifecycle costing initiatives
  • Negotiate and settle final accounts with clients
  • Interface with client and other consultants across all project stages
  • Lead a cost management team when appropriate
  • Identify and pursue cross-selling and new business opportunities
  • Contribute to process, template and product improvements in cost management
  • Staff management duties including recruitment, resource planning and appraisals
  • Knowledge management activities to capture and share best practices

Key requirements

  • Proven cost/commercial management experience
  • MRICS (preferred)
  • NEC3 contracts knowledge, especially Option C – Target Cost
  • Post-contract administration experience
  • Experience on Major Programmes and Projects in infrastructure sectors (rail, aviation, water/utilities, highways)
  • Experience in leading and managing teams
