Software Licence Analyst

Overview

In this role you support the Licence Manager to deliver Software Licence Management services, focusing on accurate data, records and reports. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, renewals and efficient licence usage. You’ll handle data collection and validation, using tooling to benchmark positions and identify cost-saving opportunities. The role sits in a collaborative team that values accuracy, curiosity and continuous improvement, with a requirement to obtain security clearance if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Support the Licence Manager in day-to-day delivery of licence management services
• Maintain accurate licence, entitlement, contract, application and renewal records
• Collect, validate and reconcile inventory, discovery, usage, purchase and entitlement data
• Use Snow Software or equivalent tools for licence positions, compliance checks, metering, reharvesting and optimisation
• Produce reports, dashboards, data extracts and evidence for service reviews, renewals and audits
• Identify unused software and opportunities to improve licence utilisation and reduce costs
• Respond to routine customer and internal queries, escalating complex issues appropriately
• Collaborate with service, customer, procurement, tooling and reporting teams to deliver dependable service

Key requirements

• Experience in Software Licence Management, software licensing, IT service operations or related analytical role
• Working knowledge of software licensing concepts; exposure to Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Adobe or Veritas beneficial
• Confidence with data, spreadsheets, reporting or licence-management tools and strong attention to detail
• Understanding of discovery, inventory, entitlements, reconciliation, software usage and reharvesting
• Organised, customer-focused approach, with clear communication and issue escalation confidence
• Ability to take ownership of analysis while working in a team
