Overview

In this role, you will lead public health design delivery within a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy. You’ll work across sustainability, energy and BIM-enabled projects to shape high-performing, future-ready facilities. You will mentor junior engineers and coordinate with clients and external consultants to ensure quality and regulatory compliance. The position offers exposure to diverse sectors, with a focus on science, research and technical facilities, and opportunities to advance digital design and low-carbon solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead public health design delivery on a range of building projects
  • Design domestic water, gas and drainage systems
  • Produce technical calculations, reports, specifications and design solutions
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring quality, programme and commercial objectives
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external consultants
  • Support sustainable and low-carbon design strategies
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and industry standards
  • Drive digital innovation and opportunities for automation in project delivery
  • Support delivery of complex local, national and international projects

Key requirements

  • Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer or actively working towards chartership (CIBSE or IMechE)
  • Proven experience in public health building services design
  • Strong knowledge of domestic water, gas and drainage systems
  • Experience with foul, trade and rainwater drainage systems
  • Knowledge of medical gas systems, fire suppression systems and below-ground drainage advantageous
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating external consultants
  • Strong understanding of current legislation, regulations and industry standards
  • Experience using Revit, AutoCAD and BIM design processes
  • Excellent communication, report writing and stakeholder management skills
