Senior Design Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the end-to-end design process for South West England construction projects within a large contractor. You’ll manage clients, subcontractors and internal teams to deliver robust design solutions, while upholding CDM 2015 and health and safety standards. You will identify design risks and maximise project value, and oversee design consultants, fees and program delivery. This is a permanent opportunity to shape major projects and collaborate across a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process for construction projects
• Manage stakeholder relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams
• Ensure CDM 2015 and health & safety compliance across all project phases
• Identify and mitigate design risks and capitalise on opportunities to improve value
• Oversee selection and competency of design consultants, manage fees and ensure timely design program delivery

Key requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Design Manager with a Tier 1 or major main contractor
• Experience delivering complex construction projects in defence, justice, healthcare, education or commercial sectors (MoJ/MoD preferred)
• Strong understanding of design management processes, construction methodologies and Building Regulations
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND, degree or equivalent) preferred
• BPSS Clearance or eligibility to obtain it
