Overview

In this role you will implement and support an integrated risk management framework across a major capital programme. You will lead threat and opportunity identification, assess risk exposure, and inform investment planning. You’ll supervise measurable management responses and monitor risk against budgets, collaborating with contractors to align client and contractor views. The position offers involvement in high-profile rail projects and requires delivering clear risk reporting and quantitative assessment to drive contingency decisions. Responsibilities

  • Implement/integrate risk management framework across a major capital programme
  • Identify, assess, and prioritise threats, opportunities and issues within the sub-programme
  • Maintain visibility of threat/opportunity trigger points for risk cost profiling and budget drawdown
  • Use risk data to inform investment planning
  • Identify and record management responses that are measurable and track post-mitigation positions
  • Monitor overall risk exposure against remaining risk budget
  • Proactively manage completion of management responses to deliver target positions
  • Collaborate with contractors to assess contractor-held risks and client-held risks affecting them
  • Produce risk reports to support communication of threat and opportunity status
  • Conduct quantitative risk assessment (cost and schedule) to inform project contingency levels
  • Demonstrate experience with tools such as PRA, @risk, Safran; familiarity with ARM, Predict, Tableau

Key requirements

  • Qualitative and quantitative risk assessment experience on large programmes
  • Working understanding of an integrated risk management process (risk, cost, schedule)
  • Risk workshop facilitation; threat mitigation and opportunity exploitation
  • Probabilistic modelling experience (@risk, PRA, P6 or equivalent)
  • Proven risk delivery experience on major projects/programmes
  • APM/IRM risk certification preferred
  • Degree qualification in a construction-related subject preferred
