Overview

In this role you will lead key modernization efforts to transform firm-wide alerting and event-routing infrastructure from a legacy monolith to a cloud-native microservices platform. You will collaborate with engineering, SRE, product, and controls to deliver resilient systems and an AI-powered monitoring tool for intelligent event enrichment and root-cause analysis. You will apply deep Java/Spring Boot expertise to raise engineering standards and scale critical capabilities. Responsibilities

  • Lead migration from legacy monolith to containerized microservices architecture with decomposition strategy and data migration planning
  • Re-architect infrastructure for high scalability and availability across multi-AZ/region patterns, autoscaling, HA/DR
  • Develop end-to-end backend services and APIs (REST/GraphQL) in Java/Spring Boot; contribute to UI where needed
  • Design and implement event-driven systems and streaming workflows (e.g., Kafka) with robust topic/schema design
  • Improve production services quality; review and improve others’ code
  • Drive performance, resiliency, and scalability improvements for firmwide alerting and event routing; define SLOs/SLIs and optimize latency
  • Collaborate with product, SRE/operations, and controls to ensure reliable adoption and effective incident response
  • Explore AI for Ops approaches; drive POCs and data-driven adoption
  • Lead architecture discussions with internal teams and vendors; promote modern engineering and observability practices
  • Foster team culture of diversity, inclusion, and responsible AI adoption

Key requirements

  • Significant professional software engineering experience at Lead level
  • Hands-on system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for distributed systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Java and building microservices with Spring Boot
  • Backend-focused with ability to contribute across layers, including UI collaboration when needed
  • Proficiency in automation and CD/CI pipelines
  • SDLC expertise across requirements, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support
  • Advanced understanding of agile practices, CI/CD, resiliency, and security
  • Cloud-native experience deploying containerized microservices in the cloud
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (Oracle)
  • Experience leading AI-assisted development tools and setting validation standards for AI outputs
  • Strong emphasis on secure coding, peer review, automated testing, and reuse of patterns
  • Experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption of AI in delivery practices
